These results contribute to the country’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action, accelerating the transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Between 2010 and 2023, carbon projects have reduced greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation by 131,414,073 tons of CO2 equivalent, preventing the deforestation of 283,000 hectares across the country. Carbon projects aimed at reducing deforestation in Colombia cover over 12 million hectares, representing 11% of the national territory and 21% of the country’s natural forests. More than 100 Indigenous reserves lead these projects, ensuring inclusive and sustainable climate governance.

Additionally, between 2017 and 2024, the Colombian government collected $3.2 billion pesos through the national carbon tax, based on the consumption of 177 million tons of CO2 equivalent. Through the non-causation mechanism, 112 million tons of CO2 equivalent have been offset, reflecting the effectiveness of these policies in emission reductions.

Colombia’s carbon market continues to strengthen as an essential tool for sustainable development. Collaboration between the government, communities, and the private sector is crucial for its ongoing consolidation in the near future.

ASOCARBONO reaffirms its commitment to driving carbon projects with high standards of integrity and transparency, promoting investment in sustainable solutions, and ensuring the country meets its climate commitments.

Colombia is making steady progress in the fight against climate change and is establishing itself as a leader in carbon markets, with figures that demonstrate its impact on reducing greenhouse…

[41,39

0":"post-5922","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-asociados-en","8":"category-prensa-en
["GET
